Ancient Greece- Day 1

Ancient Greeks liked geometry better than algrebra, so I'm using that excuse to do a unit on geometry for our unit.
Using these two books:
Geometry for Every Kid by Janice VanCleave
Geometry (Math Success)

Today, we started with Lines, Points, and Rays. Tera and Daniel tried to fool their Daddy with an optical illusion using line segments.

Ancient Greece for Kids: Olympics
Ancient Greek Architecture-
Be sure to click on the architecture words on the side. Great site for examples of each type of column. The kids could easily tell the difference after visiting this site.

Daniel and Tera made posters with key ideas that represented a city-state of their choice. Daniel chose Corinth and Tera chose Athens.

Throughout this unit the kids will visit these sites:
Aesop's Fables various versions, some flash and with sound
Myth Web readings about the different gods and goddesses as well as Greek heroes
Greek Myths online audio stories

We are also using this unit to learn some Greek root words, prefixes and suffixes. This chart is a great introduction.
